Missoula College is the two-year college of The University of Montana in Missoula. The college offers more than 30 different programs leading to a career or transfer to the four-year campus. Founded on occupational and technical education, as the college moves forward it is taking on the mission of offering all the services of a comprehensive two-year college.
Some of its most highly enrolled programs are culinary arts, diesel technology, energy technology, information technology, nursing, paralegal studies and welding technology. These are in addition to the college’s Associate of Arts degree in its transfer program curriculum. Many of the courses are offered in both traditional classroom settings (with daytime, evening and weekend schedules) and online formats.
- For the fall 2011 semester, the college had a record enrollment of 2,800 students.
- Missoula College actively responds to the needs of the Missoula community and region. This is shown by its continuing successful partnership with Missoula County Public Schools — which includes dual enrollment/dual credit, Big Sky Pathways and the Health Sciences Academy at Big Sky High School (the first of planned high school science, technology, engineering and math programs or “STEM academies”).
- An example of recent industry collaboration is its partnership with the Missoula Building Industry Association and the after-school Flagship program, a partnership that resulted in a move-in-ready student-built house.
- The college also actively pursues affiliations and collaborations with workforce and economic development organizations, and business and industry.
